Our Research Center
Mission and Purpose
The IDEA Lab—Innovations in Disability, Economic Equity, and Addictions Research—is a collective of master's and doctoral students, faculty, and practitioners focused on propelling professional counseling research in the areas of disability, economic equity, and addictions. We proudly welcome members from all research backgrounds--from those just beginning their research journeys to those with extensive experience, from both inside and outside UT San Antonio. The lab has three components:
-
Education: Didactic learning opportunities that lay the groundwork for practical research, writing, and presentation experience.
-
Practice: Engaging in research, writing, and presentation tasks that complement the didactic knowledge students have gained.
-
Leadership: Mentoring and guiding other students in specific aspects of the research, writing, and presentation processes once skills are well developed.
Students build on what they learn and practice over time, supporting them in a scaffolded way as they develop their leadership skills.
The requirements of the lab members include:
-
Research Lab contract
-
Completion of the IRB training
-
Attending Educational sessions (synchronously or Asynchronously)
